VISIT OF HON. MEMBER OF THE COMMITTEE MR. RAZA ALI GILLANI, MNA, STANDING COMMITTEE ON INDUSTRIES & PRODUCTION, TO EDB
The Engineering Development Board (EDB), in collaboration with the Ministry of Industries and Production (MoIP), hosted a meeting with Mr. Raza Gillani, Member of the Standing Committee on Industries & Production. The session was co-chaired by Hon. Syed Raza Ali Gillani (MNA) and Additional Secretary-II, M/o I&P, along with the CEO of EDB. The meeting was attended by senior officials from MoIP and EDB.
The meeting focused on reviewing the New Energy Vehicle (NEV) Policy 2025–30. The CEO-EDB briefed participants on the policy’s key features, developed through consultations with more than 60 sessions with stakeholders. The policy aims for 30% NEV adoption by 2030, with special incentives for 2 and 3 wheelers under the PAVE Scheme.
The Hon. MNA, Syed Raza Ali Gillani, emphasized the need for mandatory safety standards, the use of lithium-ion batteries, regulated EV charging rates, and solar-powered infrastructure. Proposals also included duty-free imports of EV components, creation of a testing institute (PATI), and formation of a body to investigate vehicle faults.
The meeting concluded with recommendations to enhance policy effectiveness, consumer safety, and infrastructure development. A follow-up meeting is planned by Hon. MNA, Syed Raza Ali Gillani upon his next visit to EDB accordingly.
