Dissemination and Feedback Session on the New Energy Vehicle (NEV) Policy 2025–30 at Quetta.
The Engineering Development Board (EDB), under the aegis of the Ministry of Industries and Production (MoIP), convened a provincial Dissemination and Feedback Session on the New Energy Vehicle (NEV) Policy 2025–30 in Sikandar Jamali, Auditorium, Secretariat, Quetta. The session aimed to engage local stakeholders in Baluchistan, ensuring provincial perspectives are fully integrated into the national implementation framework. The event was attended by senior officials from the Government of Baluchistan, representatives of the private sector, academia, and other relevant stakeholders.
The participants were briefed on the policy’s strategic vision, which seeks to accelerate Pakistan’s shift toward low-emission transport by enabling 30% electric vehicle penetration in new vehicle sales by 2030. The policy holds particular relevance for Baluchistan, offering opportunities to harness renewable energy potential, reduce air pollution, and attract investment in localized EV assembly and component manufacturing.
Detailed discussions focused on practical instruments introduced under the policy, such as financial support for NEV buyers, the roadmap for phased tariff rationalization, and the creation of institutional anchors like the NEV Fund and NEV Center. Participants were also apprised of skills development efforts targeting youth in high-demand sectors through the NEAP and NESP initiatives. The role of provincial governments in facilitating infrastructure development—such as charging stations and regulatory harmonization—was highlighted as a critical success factor.
The session concluded with a reaffirmation of the federal government’s commitment to inclusive policy delivery and equitable green industrialization. Stakeholders from Baluchistan were encouraged to provide continued feedback, propose pilot initiatives, and coordinate closely with EDB for effective rollout of the NEV Policy across the province.
