GAUSS AUTO GROUP INTERESTED TO ESTABLISH ELECTRIC VEHICLE PLANT IN PAKISTAN
Gauss Auto Group, a Chinese company has planned to set-up an Electric Vehicle (EV) Plant in Pakistan’s Special Economic Zone, Karachi under a joint venture (JV) with AKD Group Holdings (Pvt) limited (Pakistan). Mr. Chen Feng (CEO), Gauss Auto Group and Mr. Nasir Rizwan (CEO), AKD Group Holding met with Mr. Raza Abbas Shah (CEO) and Mr. Asim Ayaz (GM), Engineering Development Board on 19th May, 2022 to discuss technicalities and feasibilities of the plant.
CEO – EDB briefed the delegation about Pakistan’s recently launched Electric Vehicle Policy for 2-3 wheelers, 4 wheeler and heavy commercial vehicles which was formulated after extensive efforts of Engineering Development Board (EDB), Ministry of Climate Change and Ministry of Industries and Production, and approved in principle by ECC of the Cabinet in its meeting held on June 10, 2020. They were informed that in CKD, EV specific parts to attract 1% CD, ACD 0%, RD 0% and 10% for non-localized and 25% for localized parts in cars, LCVs, SUVs.
GM – EDB briefed the delegation that few companies including Sazgar, Jolta electric, United, Crown Motors, Eifel industries etc. have started manufacturing of EV 2-3 wheelers in Pakistan.Mr. Chen Feng, gave a comprehensive presentation of their production plant. He informed that Gauss Auto is an enterprise focusing on the innovation and development of automobiles and integrating resources. It is registered in Silicon Valley, California, and operates in Shanghai, China.
The Gauss Auto Group partner is the British CCA company, RML, German EDAG, Italian IDG, and other well-known vehicle styling design, engineering development, and manufacturing companies, as well as engineers, designers, and marketing experts in the field of new energy vehicles from Audi, Ford, Tesla and the US Department of Energy. CEO – EDB assured his support to M/s Gauss Auto Group for CKD assembly of vehicles assembly in Pakistan.
