Dissemination and Feedback Session on the New Energy Vehicle (NEV) Policy 2025–30 at Cabinet Room Civil Secretariat, Peshawar.
The Engineering Development Board (EDB), in collaboration with the Ministry of Industries and Production (MoIP), organized a Dissemination and Feedback Session on the New Energy Vehicle (NEV) Policy 2025–30 in Peshawar. The event served as a multi-stakeholder platform, bringing together senior government officials, provincial authorities, auto industry leaders, academia, development partners, and civil society representatives.
The session aimed to share the vision and key components of the NEV Policy, which targets 30% electric vehicle penetration in new vehicle sales by 2030. This strategic shift is expected to significantly reduce Pakistan’s greenhouse gas emissions, lower dependency on imported fuels, and stimulate green economic growth through domestic innovation and manufacturing.
Main features of the policy presented during the session included direct buyer incentives, phased tariff restructuring for local manufacturers, the establishment of a dedicated NEV Fund and NEV Center, and human capital development initiatives. These measures are designed to align with international best practices while promoting value addition and industrial competitiveness.
Senior officials from MoIP and EDB reiterated that the policy has been developed through extensive consultations and benchmarking of global models. Participants were invited to offer feedback to refine the policy’s implementation framework. The event reflected the government’s commitment to enabling a clean mobility transition, supporting provincial engagement, and fostering a future-ready industrial ecosystem in Pakistan.
