32th Meeting of the Auto Industry Development Committee was held on Thursday, 23rd April 2020 through the Internet (Zoom), under the chairmanship of Chief Executive Officer, EDB.

31st Meeting of the Auto Industry Development Committee was held on March 12, 2020 in the Committee Room of Engineering Development Board under the chairmanship of Chief Executive Officer, EDB. Chairman EDB also attended the meeting.

EDB is implementing Automotive Development Policy (ADP 2016-21), under which a total of 18 new entrants have been granted Greenfield Status and two closed units have been revived, with a commitment of more than USD 1 billion.

EDB has prepared and submitted to the Government a Mobile Device Development Policy, which is expected to boost local manufacturing of mobile handsets and their exports from Pakistan.

A Draft Policy for Electric Vehicles (EVs) has been prepared in consultation with industry and stakeholders which will help in reducing environmental emissions, reduce oil imports bill of the country, bring down cost of operation of vehicles for consumers, and make Pakistan a manufacturing hub for these technologies.

EDB, in consultation with the engineering industry, has identified six sectors, namely Power Equipment, Auto Industry, Home Appliances, House Hold Utensils and Cutlery, Casting & Forging, and Sanitary Fittings and Ceramics, which have substantive export potential and where efforts are being made to build/enhance their capability/capacity, improve productivity and to enhance export volume.

EDB published EDB’s Directory of Engineering Goods Exporters with the prime objective to highlight and promote the leading exporters of engineering industry to boost exports from the country.

EDB is working on Automotive Industry Development and Export Plan 2021-26.
